A nice early morning up-date

Well I'm up super early this morning - Rory is off to London working until tomorrow and the house is dark so theres no way I'm getting back to sleep. We were watching a film called paranormal activity on Saturday night and it has put the fear into me. Seriously worth watching if you like feeling slightly creeped out for a few days lol.

While awake I thought I would check into my messages and had one from Scott who I worked with last week, he sent over a couple of images. Both shot on film I believe :-) The second one is an ice table.. He mentioned in the car about his 'chess' idea and I thought "cool never done that before". Anyways me likey!

Not sure what to do now...
I know I wont be able to get back to sleep and I think reading my new twilight book will be too quiet (still freaked out after watching that film). Maybe some quality time should be spend catching up with bbc iplayer, I hardly get the chance to watch tv much these days.

Anyways adios

Ouch.. I remember that feeling from before!

Well the shoot with Brian went really well, have seen all the images and theres a fair few which I think look super!! one even makes my large bum look less large so can't wait for him to do his processing of it.

So the title..
my back, I remember when I started modelling I would suffer the next day, when I was shooting several times a week I was using my back alot so it didn't bother me too much. I guess I only really go into the poses and positions I go into during shoots so its no surprise that the next day my back is a little tender. Having cut back on shoots recently Its only just flared up today. If you can imagine a 1 month to go pregnant lady or a very old frail woman then you wont have any problems pictuing what I was like in the book shop today while bending down to look at 'how to be a shit hot manager' books for Rory. At one point I didn't think I could actually get back up from the kneeling position! It's just a reminder to me that I have to practice my poses more and warm up a little before shoots rather than coming close to dislocating my back without stretching first.

The good thing is that after a nice massage tonight It will be back to normal.

Next month is set to be looking pretty busy, got a fair few bookings in now and many of them are out on location which has always been my faviourite setting for art nudes. The best thing about location work is the range of things you can do, the sky is your limit and even if you went to the same place a million times you will always come out with something different because the sun and clouds are always moving!

Anyway.. time for me to get on with some housework and cleaning. Rory is going away to London/Northampton next week for work so better make sure he has enough clean socks for his little trip.

Lucky?!

Well its a beautiful Thursday morning and for a change rather than running about before a shoot I'm actually pretty chilled out/relaxed and in a fantastic mood. Sipping on some hot sugary tea.. The only thing thats bothering me is that the livingroom heater has decided to not work again (3rd heater in just over a month). Might see if Brian knows anything about heater repairs!

Waiting for Mr Brian Martin to come over and shooting some french type images which should be fun. Had a great time the last time Brian and I shot! Infact waiting for the UKPM book to arrive to see one of our images on the cover yey!

I'm feeling super lucky today, can't really explain it.. The great mood might just be down to the sun coming out and bookings coming in again. who knows? I'm looking forward to the summer again, can't wait to get out again more often. Still waiting from images back from Scott, itching to see them!

I have been learning about layer masks on photoshop, Jay Mawson told me his technique so I've been messing about with a recent shot Rory took of me. Still not 100% happy with the editing yet though so I will go back to it with fresh eyes.

Think thats about all for now.

Adios xx

Do some people just not care?

I had typed up a 3,000 word blog but realised that all that information was not really necessary.
Yesterday while browsing online I spotted an image it stood out to me... because it was absolutely terrible given it had a big logo on it saying xxxxxxx portfolios I was intrigued to find out more about xxxxxxx portfolios. Wondering if they charged for models to have a shoot, i though 'no way this is criminal'. Anyway I found his page and his bebo page and in there I looked at at least 200 images, about 40 pictures per album all unedited of different young girls dreaming of becoming a model. I thought he must have at least one good image, but no! I did give up looking because I was almost on the verge of tears seeing some of these pictures. I usually don't give a crap about this type of thing but it got to me. Someone pretending to be a photographer to get a bunch of girls to nude/seminude levels then take snapshots of them, no editing, clueless when it comes to lighting and every other type of negative flaw you could get in an image he had done it.

I'm not a snob, I'm a beginner photographer and even i wouldn't be confident enough to offer a portfolio service to anyone.. let alone stick up 30/40/50 images per shoot, christ I'm lucky if I get 1 shot I'm happy with per set.

I know new models have dreams, they want to be in fhm or some magazine and someone wanting to take their picture might be a big compliment to them but at what cost? There was one image which made me the saddest, it was of an alternative looking girl.. She had a great look to her and her expression looked wicked, i would love to shoot her sometime but his image of her was basically all bad styling/lighting/composition and angle right up her *flower*. I'm tempted to track her down and give her some good images which might help her or at least show her what photographers outside of bebo can produce because I really do think she would make a smashing model (thats if she still wants to be one and her experience with it didn't put her off for life).

So I end my blog which I tried to keep small..

Why oh why do some people think they are doing a girl a favour by taking their picture when infact they are causing more harm than good. Can they not look at other images and compare their own with such images? are they blind to how crap their images are. Why are girls being sucked into it over bebo? when anyone with a camera phone can take better pictures.

What makes a really uncreative person who lacks the 'eye' for an image pick up a camera and inflict their crap on innocent young girls with dreams?

And that is all
